Our primary motivation for opening the Porch Music Store was to encourage more people to play music – young, old and any age in between. It is our great joy to be experiencing placing the first instrument in someone’s hands, then helping them nurture their musical abilities. Some of our customers and students are re-connecting with instruments they set aside long ago. As we see the notes on the page making sense and chords sounding sweet, it is great shared pleasure.
Meanwhile, some very fine musicians stop in, pick up an instrument and share a song or two. We hear the sounds of local talent every day. Each time, I am thanking my lucky stars to have landed in this space in time. I’m reminded that I want to slow down and soak it in more. There is so much to learn and so much more to share.
The Magic of Music. It heals. It bridges divides. It lifts people up. Music is a magical experience that transcends language. If we can help you connect with that magic, our mission is fulfilled. And as you do, you are bringing magic into our lives. Many of you reading this have done just that.
